Decision Letter

Appeal Number: 1692
Decision Date: January 5, 2016
Associate Dean: Sue Blake
Student Name: Dawood Abdulmalik
Student Email: 13da32@queensu.ca

Dear Mr. Abdulmalik:

I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission. I have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline and grant your request to receive Credit standing in BIOL 102 (F 2014), BIOL 103, CHEM 112B, MATH 121B and PHYS 117B (W 2015). Your grades in these courses will appear on your transcript as CR.

I will however, deny your request to receive Credit standing in PSYC 100. According to the Academic Regulations, Credit standing applies to grades in the C to D- range. Because your final grade in PSYC 100 is C+, it is recommended to keep your grade in this course on your transcript €œas-is€.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent. Guidelines for appealing to the Board of Studies and the appeal form can be found at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€) Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact Mr. Harry Smith, Office of the Ombudsperson for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative. His office is located in room 421 Robert Sutherland Hall and he can be reached by phone (533-6495) or e-mail (ombuds@queensu.ca).

Sincerely,

Sue Blake
Assistant Dean (Studies)
