Dear Ms. Yau:
I have carefully considered your appeal to request a formal review of your instructor€™s decision on grading concerning your final exam in POLS 211. After careful review, I have decided to deny your appeal.
Appeal regulation 3.3.7. states that requests for re-reads should be initiated within 21 calendar days of the grade being received. This course took place during the Fall 2014 term yet there is no explanation provided as to why you were not able to initiate this process a year ago. Furthermore, appeals of this nature require the following information in order to facilitate a formal re-read:
1. The student must clearly articulate grounds for reconsideration and identify specifically the substance of an answer where the student feels the mark given was not evaluated fully;
2. The student must show in an objective manner, that a correct answer has been counted as incorrect;
3. The student must show, in a subjective essay answer, that the response has been under evaluated substantially; and
4. The student must provide relevant documentation to support the appeal (i.e. class notes, etc.)
Your appeal does not address these matters other to state that there were no comments on the exam so you are able to provide responses. This is not sufficient justification to facilitate a formal re-read.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
