Dear Ms. Shin:
I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in COMM 211 (F 2015) to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor about the circumstances surrounding this course, I have decided to grant your appeal. Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.
I would like to point out that this is a lenient decision as the documentation you supplied does not indicate the timeline of your extenuating circumstances, but rather indicates concern over the impact on your GPA which is not a factor in this decision. Your letters also indicates that you have been holding down a job (a contributing factor to your stress) which is something that is well within your personal control. However, I do acknowledge your family responsibility to care for your brother and the impact that this has had on your studies over the fall term.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
Sincerely,
Sue Blake
