Dear Mr. Hong:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive an extension of your incomplete grades in ECON 255 and ECON 351 from the 2015 fall term. After carefully reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request but offer an alternate option.
While your appeal does describe some circumstances that are certainly extenuating in nature, I am not convinced that it is in your best academic interests to attempt completing these courses at this late date. You have four courses already showing as IN status from the winter term and there is no evidence to show that your extenuating circumstances have yet been resolved or are being managed to the point where you can successfully complete all of these incomplete courses. I am also concerned about your GPA. It currently remains below 1.60 and because you have a previous requirement to withdraw ruling on your record, you run the risk of being required to withdraw for a minimum of three years. It is therefore very important that you focus all of your efforts on your most recent courses and raise your GPA as best as you can to avoid this ruling.
I do also recognize the fact that you have had extenuating circumstances over the past year that appear to have had a significant impact on your ability to successfully complete these courses. Therefore, I would be willing to allow you to drop these courses past the academic deadline as an alternative option. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision to confirm and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
