I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MICR 221 (W 2016) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I would like to note that this is now your 8th appeal that you have submitted to the Faculty Office. Please note that appeals system is not designed to compensate for circumstances that are ongoing in nature for which the student is unable or unwilling to effectively manage. While I understand that the recovery time for a concussion is unpredictable, you have the experience now to better judge what you can and cannot manage in terms of courses and workload. I would recommend that you consider pursuing a lighter course load next year to ensure that you can comfortably manage the workload until you have made more significant progress in your recovery. I would also urge you to monitor the drop deadlines carefully and assess how well you can manage a course, dropping any courses as needed within these deadlines so you don€™t continue to resort to using the appeals system.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
