Dear Ms. Brauer:
I have carefully considered your appeal to waive the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. You may now resume your studies at Queen's University.
Given the circumstances outlined in your appeal letter, I would also be willing to allow you to drop CHEM 112 past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in GEOL 102, GEOL 104, GEOL 107 (F 2015), BIOL 111, CLST 129 and GPHY 102 (W 2016). Should you decide to accept this offer, we will make the changes to your transcript and reassess your academic record again, which will remove the €œRequired to Withdraw for One Year€ ruling from your record altogether and place you back in good academic standing.
If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision to confirm and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript. If you would like to learn more about these options, please see Academic Regulation 10 in the Arts and Science Calendar: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/sites/default/files/academic_regulations.pdfpage20 or to discuss these options in more detail, please contact the Faculty Office at 613-533-2470 to set up an appointment time to speak with an academic advisor.
If you choose not to accept this offer, please read carefully the document to follow this letter. It contains important information concerning your current academic standing. If you have any questions about the information, please contact the Faculty Office to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.
Upon returning to a regular course of study it is your responsibility to choose courses carefully, seek out the advice necessary to improve your academic performance, and maintain a GPA consistent with the requirements for successful completion of your plan. I hope that you will take advantage of the variety of support services available to you at Queen's. Academic counselling is available through an advisor in the Faculty of Arts and Science Student Services Office (main floor Dunning Hall, phone 533-2470) or through your plan department. The Learning Commons in Stauffer Library also provides a range of services, including workshops designed to improve study skills and develop strategies for meeting the demands of academic life. Further, the Student Wellness Services Centre located in the LaSalle Building at 146 Stuart Street (613-533-2506) offers personal and academic counselling free of charge to all Queen's students, as well as individual consultation to aid in coping with difficulties of a more personal nature.
If you have any questions about this decision, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office for advice or assistance. I wish you success in your future studies.
Yours sincerely,
Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
