Dear Mr. Grady:
I have carefully considered your request to have your appeal heard after the 21-day timeline for submission, and have decided, based on the circumstances you refer to in your letter of appeal, to waive the timeline.
I have subsequently considered your appeal requesting to drop CHEM 112B, FREN P12, MATH 121B (W 2012), MATH 121 (S 2012), BIOL 103 and MATH 121B (W 2014) past the academic deadline. After carefully reviewing your file I have decided to grant your appeal. As a result of this decision, your transcript has been reassessed and the Academic Probation ruling of May 23, 2012 and the Required to Withdraw for One Year ruling of May 22, 2014 will be removed as they now no longer apply. Your current GPA stands at 1.67 so you may resume your studies in good academic standing. However, to be eligible for an Honours degree, you must raise your GPA to at least 1.90.
Upon returning to a regular course of study it is your responsibility to choose courses carefully, seek out the advice necessary to improve your academic performance, and maintain a GPA consistent with the requirements for successful completion of your plan. I hope that you will take advantage of the variety of support services available to you at Queen's. Academic counselling is available through an advisor in the Faculty of Arts and Science Student Services Office (F200 Mackintosh-Corry Hall, phone 533-2470) or through your plan department. The Learning Commons in Stauffer Library also provides a range of services, including workshops designed to improve study skills and develop strategies for meeting the demands of academic life. Further, the Health, Counselling and Disabilities Centre located in the LaSalle Building at 146 Stuart Street (613-533-2506) offers personal and academic counselling free of charge to all Queen's students, as well as individual consultation to aid in coping with difficulties of a more personal nature.
If you have any questions about this decision, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office for advice or assistance. I wish you success in your future studies.
Yours sincerely,
J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
