Dear Mr. McCallum:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 260 (W 2016) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I would like to note that this is your fourth appeal based on the same circumstances. The appeal system is not designed to compensate for circumstances that are ongoing in nature for which the student is unable or unwilling to effectively resolve or manage. Therefore, any further appeals based on these grounds will be reviewed carefully and must provide evidence that you are actively managing your illness around your studies as proactively as possible. Please also ensure that you are monitoring your health closely and if you feel that you are falling behind in your courses, remember to drop them within the academic deadlines to avoid further appeals. The last day to drop a fall term course is Friday, November 4 and the last day to drop a winter term course is Friday, March 3. Lastly, I will note that you are currently registered in 5 courses for the fall term. This seems like a very heavy load for you, given your past appeals and current health challenges. I would strongly recommend that you consider reducing your load to a more manageable level (3 courses or less) to ensure that you can complete a lighter load successfully before attempting more.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
