Dear Ms. Depew:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 200B, ENGL 237 and HIST 124 (W 2016) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in LAW 201 (F 2015). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

This decision will remove the €œRequired to Withdraw for One Year€ ruling from your transcript as it no longer applies but please be cautioned that you will remain on academic probation, as your GPA remains below 1.60. If you register in 15.0 units or more over the winter term, your academic record will be assessed again in May 2017. If you are able to raise your GPA to 1.60 by that time, you will be released from academic probation; otherwise, you could be required to withdraw for one year. As we are now entering Week 5, it is well past the deadline to add courses for the fall term but there is still time to add courses for the winter term. If you have any questions about your academic status or registering in courses, please consult with an academic advisor by calling 613-533-2470.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
