Category: Request aegrotat (AG) standing in a course or courses
Instructor: Brian Cumming

Dear Ms. Saunders,

I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in BIOL 335 (F 2016) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the support received by the instructor, I have decided to grant your appeal.

The instructor of the course has suggested a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as B- along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

In addition, I have reviewed your request to complete your remaining courses for a BSc (Honours) degree with a Major concentration in Biology at the University of British Columbia. As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that €œnormally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen€™s.€ However, given the circumstances explained in your letter of appeal, and the support of the Biology Department, I agree to this request. Please consult with your department regularly to ensure that the courses you select at the University of Victoria will properly fulfill the Queen€™s requirements for your degree.

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the Faculty of Arts and Science Office by 15 May to be considered for graduation at Spring Convocation, or by 15 October for Fall Convocation. Finally, please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

I wish you well in the remainder of your studies at Queen€™s, in your studies at the University of British Columbia, and in your future undertakings.

Sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
