Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 2806
Decision Date: February 16, 2017
Associate Dean: Sue Blake
Student Name: Mengxi Li
Student Email: 14ml82@queensu.ca
Dear Ms. Li:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 111 (F 2016) and instead replace it with ECON 110 (FW 2016/17) past the academic deadline as well as drop MATH 126 (FW 2015/16) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
We attempted to contact you on December 5 offering to change your registration in MATH 121 to MATH 126 this year so you could take advantage of the repeat rules and reminders were sent but no response was received. We also offered to change your registration in ECON 111 to ECON 110 but cautioned you that this change would result in you being in a very heavy course load for the current winter term. Again, we received no response from you. In the absence of any response to acknowledge the terms and impact that these changes would have on your transcript, I cannot grant your appeal. Furthermore, it is now too late to catch up on the work missed in the winter term for ECON 110 and MATH 126.
Please ensure that you continue to monitor your academic progress very carefully and drop any Winter term courses as needed by the March 3, 2017 deadline.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent. Guidelines for appealing to the Board of Studies and the appeal form can be found at: http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€) Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact Mr. Harry Smith, Office of the Ombudsman for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative. His office is located in room 421 Robert Sutherland Hall and he can be reached by phone (533-6495) or e-mail (ombuds@queensu.ca).
