Dear Mr. Barkin:

I have reviewed your request to apply for a retroactive letter of permission to transfer credits for courses taken through Athabasca University over the 2013 fall term. As you know, Regulation 14.1 indicates that, €œThe student must obtain a Letter of Permission from the Arts and Science Faculty Office prior to enrolling in classes at another post-secondary institution€ and the application for the letter of permission must indicate the correct term in which the course is taken. This type of request would not normally be granted; however, given that Athabasca University€™s terms do not run on the usual or standard timelines of most other institutions and the form you completed did not specify which months of the year constituted fall versus winter terms, I agree to this request.

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the Faculty of Arts and Science Office by 15 May to be considered for graduation at Spring Convocation, or by 15 October for Fall Convocation. Finally, please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

I wish you well in the remainder of your studies at Queen€™s, and in your future undertakings.

Yours sincerely,

J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
