I have carefully considered your appeal study abroad at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, for the 2015 Winter term. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
Your transcript shows that your overall academic performance is not consistently strong. While your cumulative GPA is 2.40 and high enough to graduate with an Honours degree, your APEC Plan GPA (your GPA in all passed courses required for the APEC Major) is currently 1.81. The minimum Plan GPA required for a Honours degree is 1.90. If you took your winter term courses on exchange, the courses transferred will not count toward your Plan GPA (only the credit is transferred, not the actual grades earned); therefore, you would likely be in jeopardy of not having a strong enough academic record to graduate at the end of fourth year. Dr. Keay, while supportive of your plan, also acknowledges concerns regarding your academic record for these reasons as well.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit a letter of intent to appeal within 21 days of receiving this decision.
