Dear Ms. Cory:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GNDS 215 (W 2016) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
I understand that you have a disability and some health issues, but these are problems that have been going on for a long time and they are still not resolved or being properly managed to a point where you can be academically successful. This is now your ninth appeal based on these same issues. Students with chronic health issues are expected to monitor their condition and manage their classes carefully, closely watching the drop deadlines and dropping any classes that they feel they cannot successfully complete.
An academic advisor in this office has spent time assisting you to set a schedule to help you accomplish the outstanding work in this course. She encouraged you several times to consider dropping the course but you believed that you could finish it. You were given a total of three additional terms to submit the work but you failed to hand in anything during that time.
I also understand that you experienced problems while using the computers at Stauffer Library. Unfortunately this is not a circumstance on which I can base my decision, as there are computers available at other libraries on campus where you can do your course work.
You must take responsibility for managing your academic work in consideration of your ongoing circumstances, and drop courses within the established timelines. In the absence of extenuating circumstances that prevented you from dropping the course by the deadline, and out of fairness to other students I cannot reasonably grant your appeal.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
