Dear Ms. Benoit:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 212 (F 2016), CHEM 321 and MATH 112 (W 2017) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in CHEM 211, CHEM 213, HLTH 230 (F 2016), CHEM 221, CHEM 222 and HLTH 237 (W 2017). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop CHEM 212 (F 2016), CHEM 321 and MATH 112 (W 2017) past the academic deadline.

2. I will grant your request to receive Credit standing in CHEM 211, CHEM 213 (F 2016), CHEM 221, CHEM 222 and HLTH 237 (W 2017).

3. I will have to deny your request for Credit standing HLTH 230 (F 2016). According to Academic Regulation 10.3.2, Credit standing is reserved for situations in which students have completed all the work of the course, including final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, earned a substantially lower grades than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower. Since you earned a grade of C+ in HLTH 230, I am denying your request.

Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.

If you wish to appeal the decision of the Assistant Dean (Studies) to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
