I have carefully considered your appeal to receive an extension of your incomplete grade in HIST 241 (W 2017). After reviewing your file I must unfortunately deny your request.
While I am sympathetic to your circumstances and acknowledge that they are certainly extenuating, I do not feel that it is in your best academic interests to attempt to complete this course at this late date. It has been six months since the class finished, the content now rapidly becoming part of the distant past and I am concerned that you are no longer in a position where you can do yourself justice with this work. You have completed 40 percent of the work to date with 60 percent still owing. This is a considerable amount of work to have outstanding and in these cases the appeal regulations outline that a late course drop is more appropriate (see appeal regulation 3.3.5 http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/sites/default/files/appeal_regulations.pdf).
Given your circumstances, I would be willing to allow you to drop this class past the academic deadline. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
