I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat standing in FILM 345 (W 2017). After reviewing your file I must unfortunately deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 per cent of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all of the work of the course.€ The Appeal Regulations go on to stress that Aegrotat standing will only be granted due to extenuating circumstances€. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond her control.
Your appeal does not supply any documentation from a healthcare professional to confirm the timeline, severity and impact that your health condition had on your ability to complete FILM 345. There is also no information from your instructor to confirm that you have completed at least 60 of the work required and you have met the essential learning outcomes for this course. Without such information, I cannot allow this grade change.
