Dear Ms. Zatterberg:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop KNPE 227, ANAT 316 (W 2016) and KNPE 261 (F 2016) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in ANAT 315 (F 2015), KNPE 255, KNPE 265 (W 2016) and HLTH 332 (F 2016) and Aegrotat standing in ENSC 290 (F 2016). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.

The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions such as dropping classes late and changing grades to CR and/or AG notations will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control. Extenuating circumstances normally involve a significant physical or psychological event that is beyond your control and debilitating to your overall academic performance. Additionally, these kinds of extraordinary situations are normally supported by documentation from a professional.

Unfortunately, the documentation supplied with your appeal is not sufficient. The verification of illness form from Queen€™s Student Wellness Services confirms that your academic functioning was moderately impacted over much of the 2017 winter term. This does not cover the timeline of the courses you are requesting to appeal (Fall 2015 to Fall 2016). There is also no evidence supplied to confirm that your academic performance in these courses would have been significantly stronger and your grades would have been significantly higher under any different circumstances. Without such documentation, I am not able to grant your request.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
