I have carefully considered your appeal to waive the one term deadline and drop DRAM 251, DRAM 400, DRAM 448, FILM 110B, MUTH 201 (W 2017), ENIN 301, FILM 300 (S 2017), DRAM 306, DRAM 448, IDIS 410 and MUTH 231 (F 2017) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
While I am granting this appeal I would like to note that dropping this number of courses so long after the fact is an extraordinary action and the decision to alter a transcript to this extent is never taken lightly. For the future, you are expected to monitor your condition and drop courses as needed by the Week 8 deadline if your health precludes you from succeeding. The appeals process is not designed to allow students to complete courses and ask to have low grades removed after the fact, therefore you should not continue to struggle in courses despite the impact of your condition and assume that you can retroactively drop a course if your mark is low or keep it if you do well. Moving forward, you must register with Accessibility Services and work with your accommodation advisor to help you find a course load that you can comfortably and successfully handle.
Note that any change in academic registration (e.g. dropping courses) may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding such as OSAP, scholarships, or bursaries. Please consult with the Student Awards Office (Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall) to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load. A change in academic registration may also affect a student€™s enrollment status as a full or part-time student, eligibility for student visas, or benefits through external agencies.
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
