Dear Ms. Du:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 and PSYC 205 (S 2017) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in HLTH 102 (W 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
While your appeal states that your two exams in your Summer 2017 courses were lost by your proctor, there isn€™t enough evidence supplied to confirm this. We followed up with the Arts and Science Online Office and they confirmed that the exams were emailed to the proctor and they attempted to communicate with you and the proctor throughout the summer but the last communication they received was from you on July 17 and neither exam was received by their office.
Your appeal also states that your chronic health issues prevented you from completing these summer courses. Your file shows a pattern of appeals due to the same chronic condition. Students with chronic health conditions are expected to register with Accessibility Services to ensure they receive the academic accommodations they need. They are also expected to monitor their progress carefully and if they are not progressing well in a course they are expected to drop it by the drop deadline. There is no explanation supplied as to why you were not able to drop these courses by the drop deadlines. The documentation supplied is also not sufficient. While it confirms your condition, it does not confirm the severity of your condition over the 2017 summer term or the impact it had on your ability to drop courses by the deadline.
In regards to HLTH 102, your file shows that you already appealed courses from that term and you did not include HLTH 102. There is no explanation as to why you are asking to appeal for Credit standing in this course now. Further, the grades on your transcript are all in the C to D range so the C grade you earned in HLTH 102 does not appear to be an outlier and the pattern does not support changing your grade to CR. Given that this grade is one of your higher grades on your transcript, it would be in your best interests to leave it as a C (changing it to CR would result in your GPA going from 1.43 to 1.37).
