Dear Ms. Quazi:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 320 (F 2017) and receive Credit standing in MATH 112, CISC 271, CISC 260 and CISC 235 (W 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop CISC 320 past the academic deadline.

2. I must deny your request to receive Credit standing in MATH 112, CISC 271, CISC 260 and CISC 235.

Your appeal does provide documentation to confirm a significant health issue and this is sufficient to warrant granting your late course drop for the 2017 fall term. However, despite coping with two chronic illnesses, you made the conscious decision to enroll in seven courses for the 2017 winter term, two courses above a regular full-time load. As a fourth year student, you are expected to monitor your progress carefully and if your health is preventing you from keeping up with your courses, you are expected to drop them by the Week 8 deadlines. Appeals after the fact once a low grade is received are granted when an existing problem has become acute or a new issue arises after this Week 8 deadline. I also note that you requested academic accommodation for your Winter 2017 courses and this accommodation was extended to you.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
