Dear Ms. Ramadhar:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 241 (W 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I must unfortunately deny your request.
I fully recognize that your mistake of misreading your exam location is indeed very unfortunate and I am sympathetic to your situation. However, it is not the type of extenuating circumstance that would warrant a transcript change. Students do miss final exams from time to time due to human errors such as sleeping through an alarm or misreading their exam schedules and it is up to the discretion of the instructor whether or not to allow the student to write a deferred exam. In your case, your instructor did allow you to write a deferred exam with a 15 penalty which is frankly a very fair remedy, given that the other students in the class didn€™t have the benefit of receiving any extra time. To allow you the opportunity to drop the course now after having written the exam and receiving your final grade would not be fair to the other students in the class.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
