Dear Ms. Collins:
I have carefully considered your appeal to add WRIT 125, ENIN 340 and STAT 263 (S 2018) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
While I understand that you still require 12.0 units of elective courses and 9.0 units of your required POLS courses to graduate, I do not feel that it is in your best academic interests to add these courses this late into the summer term. ENIN 340 is a condensed, 6 week course so you have already missed the equivalent of a month€™s worth of class material when your appeal was submitted for review. Furthermore, given that you are already registered in one summer class this is an excessively heavy load. Your grades from last winter term indicate signs that you are struggling and your GPA is at a precarious level. You have 117.0 unit attempts to date and your GPA is 1.99. If you GPA is lower than 1.60 by the time you reach 132.0 unit attempts, then you will no longer be eligible to proceed with an Honours Degree and you will be restricted to graduating with a Bachelor of Arts General degree only. Lastly, there is no documentation supplied to confirm the problems you experienced with receiving OSAP. For these reasons, I cannot reasonably grant your appeal. However, I would like to point out that we offer a wide variety of online elective courses over the fall and winter terms as well which you can take from anywhere in the world so I would encourage you to complete your elective requirements at another time when you can start them from the beginning of the term.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
