Dear Mr. Chen Li,

I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in ANAT 316 (Winter 2018) to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructor about the circumstances surrounding this course, I have decided to grant your appeal.

Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition and appeals to drop failed courses or change low grades to Credit will likely not be granted if they are based on the same circumstances. I understand that health issues compromise academic performance. However the way to manage this is to pause and meet with an Academic Advisor at week 7 or 8 and evaluate your progress. If you are not keeping up with readings, assignments and tests due to circumstances beyond your control, the appropriate remedy is to drop the courses(s) by week 8. Appeals for Credit and late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute.

Sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
