Dear Ms. Cheng:

I have carefully considered your appeal to waive the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request as well as drop MATH 110, CHEM 112 (FW 2017-18) and BIOL 103, WRIT 125 (W 2018). You may now resume your studies at Queen's University with the following condition noted below.

I am also willing to drop ANAT 100, CHEM 281 and CHEM 285 (S 2017). Please email ascappls@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this email and advise if you wish those courses also be dropped from your transcript.

Due to the nature of your previous difficulties, I have made the decision to place you on part-time status. Note that as a part-time student you will only be allowed a maximum of 18.0 units in the Fall-Winter session with no more than 9.0 units per term. In order to be eligible to progress from part-time to full-time studies, you must fulfill the following conditions:

1. Completed a minimum of 24.0 Queen's credit units, excluding repeated courses, from the time at which they were admitted part-time on a degree Program; and

2. Achieved a minimum Cumulative GPA of 1.90;

OR

1. Completed a minimum of 18.0 Queen's credit units, excluding repeated courses, from the time at which they were admitted part-time on a degree Program; and

2. Achieved a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.90.

It is my hope that the slower pace of part-time study will allow you sufficient time to remedy the personal and academic difficulties you have faced in the past and thereby enable you to be more successful in your future studies and I strongly encourage you to meet with a personal counsellor on a regular basis.

Going forward, please meet with an academic advisor prior to each drop deadline (week 7 in fall and winter term). If your health difficulties are affecting your courses, you will be expected to drop these courses by the deadline.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
