Dear Mr. Soeyanto:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 262 (W 2018) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in ECON 222 (F 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. I will grant your request to drop POLS 262. The documentation from Laurie Hooke confirms your health condition as serious in early April and estimating your time of impairment for 8-12 weeks; therefore I feel it is reasonable to allow a late drop in this case as your health challenges occurred after the drop deadline.
2. I must unfortunately deny your request to receive Credit standing in ECON 222 (F 2017). Your circumstances involving the legal system began prior to the start of the fall term so you had plenty of time and information to determine how you were progressing in this course and make a decision whether or not to drop it by the Week 8 deadline. Your grade in ECON 222 also does not appear to be significantly out of line compared to your grades in first year, before these circumstances occurred. Without any evidence to show that you would have performed significantly better in this class under any different circumstances, I cannot justify changing your grade on your transcript after the fact. Lastly, the documentation supplied does not confirm the severity of your circumstances over the fall term or the specific impact they had on this particular course.
