Dear Ms. Chartrand:

I have reviewed your appeal to change the grades you received in BIOL 103, GPHY 101, GPHY 102 (W 2018), MATH 121 and CHEM 112 (F/W 2017-18) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructors about the circumstances surrounding these courses, I have decided to grant you Aegrotat standing in GPHY 101, GPHY 102, MATH 121 and CHEM 112.

The instructors of these courses have already submitted replacement grades based on the work you have completed. They will appear on your transcript as follows:

GPHY 101 A along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
GPHY 102 B+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
MATH 121 D along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
CHEM 112 C along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

I must deny your request for Aegrotat standing in BIOL 103 as you have not completed 60 of the course work in that course. Based on the information and documentation presented in your appeal, I am however willing to allow you to drop BIOL 103 past the academic deadline. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to provide students with the opportunity to drop courses up to Week 8 should circumstances beyond their control compromise their studies.
