Dear Mr. Defreitas:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop COMM 221, ECON 250 and GPHY 228 (W 2018) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in ECON 212 (F 2017). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade ECON 212 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your Physician who can monitor your health and to register with Queen€™s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS). A QSAS Advisor may be able to assist you in developing accommodations to meet your ongoing health needs. Further I encourage you to meet with an Academic Advisor to manage your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
