Dear Ms. DiNardo:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop KNPE 227 (W 2018) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 235 (FW 2017-18), KNPE 255, ANAT 316 (W 2018) and CISC 101 (S 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in PSYC 235, KNPE 255, ANAT 316 and CISC 101 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the new assessment you have received regarding your concussion symptoms. But I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing conditions and is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to continue to work with your Counsellor and Doctor to manage your health and to register with QSAS and work with your QSAS Advisor to manage your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies at week 7 of the term and dropping courses by week 8 of term. Please do not continue in a course which you are struggling in, and then upon obtaining a low grade, appeal to have it removed from your transcript.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
