Dear Mr. Yi:
As per standard practice, I have reviewed your appeal before it proceeds to the Board of Studies for consideration. Based on the new documentation you supplied with this appeal, I have decided to change my original decision and will waive the Requirement to Withdraw for One Year (RTW1).
I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students allowing them to drop courses should health or personal issues affect their studies. The appeals process is designed to address problems that occur, or become more acute, after the week 8 deadline to drop courses.
It is important that you attain a 1.6 GPA by May 2019 and it appears that you have made wise course selections by repeating several of your previously failed courses to help you achieve that GPA. With a positive outcome in those courses, I am hopeful that you will be in good academic standing in May 2019 as opposed to being required to withdraw for three years.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
