I have reviewed your appeal to drop CISC 101 (F 2017) as well as change the grades you received in GPHY 229, GPHY 254 and LAW 201 (F 2017) to Aegrotat standing. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by the instructors about the circumstances surrounding these courses, I have decided to grant your appeal.

The instructors of these courses have already submitted replacement grades based on the work you have completed. They will appear on your transcript as follows:

GPHY 229 B along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
GPHY 254 A- along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.
LAW 201 A+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

I have granted this appeal based on the significant changes you have made in your life and encourage you to follow through with the plans you outlined in your appeal letter. I should warn you however that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS accommodation advisor and your counsellor to manage your health and academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and give them adequate time to evaluate their progress in light of their health issues.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
