I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 (Summer 2016) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
Your appeal letter states that your performance in PSYC 100 was affected by symptoms related to your pregnancy; however, the documentation supplied does not confirm this information. The birth registries supplied confirm the birth dates of your children as October 15, 2015 and August 26, 2017, neither of which correspond to the dates of this course. Furthermore, the registries do not address any symptoms or complications that arose from your pregnancy that may have affected your academic performance from May to the end of July, 2016. For these reasons, I cannot reasonably waive the drop deadline.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
