Dear Mr. O€™Flaherty:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 215 and HIST 260 (S 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the steps you have taken to regain your health. But I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to follow through with your plan to meet with your health care professional in Student Wellness Services. Additionally, you may want to consider registering with QSAS if you need additional help managing both your health and academics. I suggest that you also evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and drop courses if you have not kept up with the course requirements.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
