Dear Ms. Rack:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop HLTH 101 and HLTH 237 (F 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the extenuating circumstances you outline but I must warn you that the appeals process is not meant to manage ongoing health issues after the fact. I encourage you to be mindful of your current course load as you work towards completing your winter term courses as well as the courses you have yet to complete from the Fall term 2018. This means that you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and consider taking a lighter course load if you have fallen behind in the course requirements.

Furthermore, I suggest that you follow the advice you received from Caroline Teske and contact the instructors of HLTH 270 and HLTH 200 to determine what academic consideration can be granted in these two courses.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am encouraged by the positive trend I see since Summer term 2018 and wish you continued success going forward.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
