Dear Ms. Brown:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Aegrotat standing in DEVS 100 and LAW 204 (S 2017). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)€. Aegrotat standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student€™s control and the learning outcomes of the course have been satisfied. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
With regards to LAW 204, you may have forgotten that you dropped this course on May 14th 2017 and there is no grade earned and thus nothing to appeal related to this course. With respect to DEVS 100, your instructor indicates that you did not write the midterm or final exams and have only completed 40 of the course work. Therefore I cannot justify granting an Aegrotat grade in this case. In addition, you have been unable to provide documentation which explains why these two assignments were not completed. You may want to consider retaking this course Veronica since the policy regarding repeats is such that the low grade earned would be excluded from your GPA and the higher grade would be included in your GPA going forward.
