Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Aidan Reigber:

I am sorry to have read that you struggled with anxiety during the Fall term and experienced an anxiety attack during your exam in CISC 101. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 101 (F 2018) past the academic deadline due to those circumstances and have decided to grant your request.

I am pleased to see that you have taken important steps to seek help and that you are developing strategies to deal with this in the future. I am confident that going forward you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please ensure that you assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I wish you success in your courses this term.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
