Dear Reid Humphrey:

I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that difficult extenuating circumstances reoccurred during the Fall term 2018, which appear to have impacted your studies. Based on the documentation received, I have decided to grant your appeal to drop ECON 290, ECON 241 and ASTR 101 (F 2018) past the academic deadline.

I encourage you to continue to monitor your health and, if your circumstances persist, register with QSAS who can assist you with accommodations that will support both your health and academics. Please note that the appeals process is not to be used to manage an ongoing condition and future appeals based on the same circumstances may not be granted. I recommend that you pause and evaluate the impact of your health by week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work, you should drop courses by week 8.

I noted from your file that you have used the Academic Consideration process. In the future, you may want to consider seeking help through this process for the purposes of deferring exams which may be a better solution than dropping courses late.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
