Dear Chase Harper-Simard:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges you faced in early March, after the deadline date to drop courses in Winter term 2019. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop WRIT 120 (W 2019) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file and documentation, I have decided to grant your request.

I encourage you to continue to work with QSAS to do your best to meet course requirements. I commend you for continuing to work towards the completion of your university degree and achieving such success in your courses. Let me remind you that good academic practice is to pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
