Appeal Number: 691
Decision Date: January 23, 2015
Associate Dean: Johanne Bnard, Ph.D.
Student Name: Hayley McNorton
Student Email: 1hslm@queensu.ca
Course: ECON 112
Term: Winter
Year: 2015
Category: Add a course after the academic deadline
Instructor: Ugurhan Berkok
Dear Hayley:
Your appeal requesting to add ECON 112(W 2015) past the academic deadline has been granted. Tuition fees for this course will be charged to your student account once it has been added to your transcript.
I will however, deny your request for a refund of the appeal fee. Students were asked to apply to graduate by December 14 to ensure that the Faculty Office had a sufficient amount of time to assess student's eligibility to graduate and notify those who were short credits to graduate before the end of the add-drop deadline. The students who applied to graduate by this date were notified in advance of the final add deadline. We made every effort to notify the students who applied after December 14 who were short credits to graduate but this took our office right up to the final day of the deadline. As your application was received on December 18, it took longer for your application to be reviewed and assessed, which is why you received notification that you were short credits on the final add deadline day.
It is your responsibility to catch up on any late or missed work in the course and the instructor is not obligated to accommodate any student due to late registration. Please ensure that you monitor your academic progress very carefully and drop courses as needed within the academic deadlines. The last day to drop a winter term course is Friday, February 27. Registering late for a course is not considered grounds for appealing to drop after this published deadline.
Best regards,
Johanne Benard
