I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the health related challenges you experienced and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SOCY 226, SOCY 300, SOCY 303 and SOCY 363 (F 2018) past the academic deadline and have decided to grant your request.

Based on the information and documentation presented, I am also willing to allow you to drop PYC 271 (S 2018) as well as your Winter term 2019 courses (HIST 241, HIST 255, RELS 312 and SOCY 384) past the academic deadline as well. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

Ava, I strongly support your decision to take a year away from your studies and then suggest, when you return to Queen€™s, that you meet with your QSAS Advisor to discuss the accommodations that are in place as it is possible that they are not sufficient for your circumstances. Going forward, I strongly recommend that you pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
