Dear Javanah Alloysius:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 398 (W 2019) as well as receive an extension of your incomplete grades in BIOL 431 and PSYC 241 (F 2017). After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:

€¢ I will grant your request for a late drop of PSYC 398 and to extend the Incomplete grade in BIOL 431. You are permitted up to September 15, 2019 at the latest to complete the outstanding requirements in this course and it is your responsibility to contact Professor Regan to make the appropriate arrangements.

€¢ I will deny your request to extend the Incomplete grade in PSYC 241. The instructor of this course has advised that the learning outcomes would be best met if you repeat this course. I am however willing to drop this course late. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca and confirm that you would like to drop this course late.

I strongly encourage you to meet with an advisor during week 7 of the term and review your progress in your courses. If you have fallen behind in your course work, you should consider dropping courses by the week 8 drop deadline. That date is designed to provide students with the opportunity to drop courses if extenuating circumstances are affecting their coursework. The appeals process is not designed to manage ongoing health or life conditions but is meant to assist students who experience extenuating circumstances after the drop deadline date. I also encourage you to continue to work with your counsellor and QSAS who can help you manage both your health and your academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
