Dear Ziyang Qin:

I was saddened to have read in your letter of appeal of the passing of your father and I am sorry for your loss. No doubt that has impacted your studies so I have decided to grant your appeal to drop CLST 130 (F 2018); PHIL 111, PSYC 100, SOCY 122 (FW 2018/19); and CLST 103 (W 2019) past the academic deadline based on that circumstance.

I encourage you to continue to work with your therapist this summer and recommend that you seek out support from the Student Wellness Services office should you continue to desire such help when you return to Queen€™s in the Fall. Going forward, you should pause to evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and drop courses by week 8 if you have fallen behind in your studies. Appealing to drop courses late is normally reserved for those who experience extenuating circumstances after the week 8 drop deadline date.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
