Dear Mr. Song:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 481 and ENGL 486 (F 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your request to drop PHIL 271 could not be heard because this course took place in Winter 2014; therefore, it is past the 21-day deadline to submit this appeal. If you wish to pursue this request now, you must submit a separate appeal requesting to waive this 21-day deadline. If your appeal demonstrates with supporting documentation that there were extenuating circumstances which prevented you from making this appeal until the present day, it will be granted and I will hear your late appeal to drop PHIL 271. However, if your appeal is denied your late appeal will not be heard.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
