Dear Ji Won Grace Min:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you experienced during the 2018/19 academic year and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BCHM 212, ENIN 301, HLTH 200 (F 2018) and BCHM 270, ENIN 240, GLPH 271 (W 2019) past the academic deadline due to those circumstances. After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. I will grant your request to drop BCHM 218, ENIN 301 and HLTH 200 (F 2018). The documentation provided supports circumstances experienced during that term and notes that you only began treatment for your circumstances at the end of Fall term.

2. I will deny your request to drop BCHM 270, ENIN 240, GLPH 271 (W 2019) past the academic deadline. As noted above, the documentation you have submitted confirms that you begin treatment prior to Winter term 2019 and that accommodations were in place for that term. If you were falling behind in your course work, it was your responsibility to drop courses by the drop deadline which was March 1, 2019.

I am pleased to have read in your appeal that you intend on completing the course requirements for CHEM 223 and SPAN 111 and encourage you to do so.

Going forward, I strongly suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. You should also continue to work with your QSAS Advisor so that you receive support for both your health and your academics.

If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, information and deadlines can be found at www.queensu.ca/artsci/students-at-queens/academic-appeals (click on €œBoard of Studies€). Do not use the on-line application for this process. You may contact the Office of the Ombudsman (www.queensu.ca/ombudsman) for advice on matters of procedure and on obtaining a representative.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
