Dear Abigail Koop:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHYS 117 (FW 2018/19) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in CHEM 112 (FW 2018/19) and BIOL 103, SPAN 112 (W 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in BIOL 103 and SPAN 112 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage an ongoing or chronic condition and future appeal based on the same circumstances will not be granted. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to continue to work with your Physician and consider registering with QSAS who can help you manage both your health and your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
