Dear Ciara Casalino:
I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in MATH 121, PHYS 117 (FW 2017-18) and BIOL 201, BIOL 205, BIOL 243 (W 2018). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:
1. To grant your request for Credit in MATH 121 and BIOL 201 based on your extenuating circumstances and since your grade in those courses is C or lower. Your grade in these courses will appear as CR on your transcript.
2. To deny your request to receive Credit in PHYS 117, BIOL 205 and BIOL 243. As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower.€ Since your grades in the above noted courses is higher than C, I will not support the granting of CR for these courses.
Ciara, I am sure this is a disappointing decision but let me assure you that a grade of C+ is considered a good grade. In the future, you can certainly explain that there were extenuating circumstances during this year that led to those grades and that that they are not indicative of your abilities if you believe these grades are impeding your progress.
