I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges you faced, particularly during Winter term 2018 and have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 250 (FW 2017/18) and GEOL 104, GPHY 101, PHIL 203 (W 2018) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Instead, students should work with their medical supports and register with QSAS to work with an accommodation advisor. I strongly encourage you to consider that, as you suggest you will, since they can help you manage both your health and academics. I see that you plan to carry a full course load and I wish you well with that endeavour, but let me remind you that you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term and drop courses you may have fallen behind in by the week 8 drop deadline. These deadline dates are outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
