I was sorry to read of the challenges you experienced during your studies at Queen€™s thus far and have carefully considered your appeal to drop FILM 236 (W 2017) and FILM 206, FILM 216, FILM 240, LLCU 247 (F 2017) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. I made this decision in part because you made a good academic decision to step away from your studies for a period of time so you could focus on your health.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. Please ensure you assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

I encourage you to reach out to the Student Wellness Services to connect with one of the Queen€™s Counsellors and consider registering with QSAS who may be able to assist you with accommodations to support both your health and your academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
