Dear Keyan Miao:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GNDS 125 (W 2018); CISC 101, ECON 111, MUSC 104 (F 2018); and MATH 121 (FW 2018/19) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in ECON 112, GEOL 106 (W 2018); CISC 121, MATH 112 and STAT 263 (W 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in ECON 112, GEOL 106, CISC 121, MATH 112, and STAT 263 will appear on your transcript as CR. Please note that the Computing Department€™s policy requires that you to have a grade of C- in CISC 121 to progress to CISC 124. A grade of CR will not fulfil that prerequisite so if you wish to pursue registration is CISC 124, you will need to repeat CISC 121.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I encourage you to work with your Counsellor and consider registering with QSAS if accommodations are needed so you can manage both your health and your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your circumstances on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
