I was sorry to read of the difficulties you have experienced since arriving at Queen€™s and have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 110, MATH 126, SOCY 122 (FW 2017/18); DRAM 205, ECON 290, PSYC 241 (F 2018); ARAB 100 (FW 2018/19); ECON 212, ECON 222, EMPR 110, PSYC 215 (W 2019) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in DRAM 100 and PSYC 100 (FW 2017-18). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your appeal with the limitation as noted below. Your grades in DRAM 100 and PSYC 100 will appear on your transcript as CR. This decision will also remove the €œRequirement to Withdraw for One Year€ ruling. You may now proceed with your studies.

Due to the ongoing nature of your difficulties, I have made the decision to place you on part-time status, which you already indicated was a manageable course load for you at this time. Note that as a part-time student you will only be allowed a maximum of 18.0 units in the Fall-Winter session with no more than 9.0 units per term. In order to be eligible to progress from part-time to full-time studies, you must fulfill the following conditions:

1. Complete a minimum of 24.0 Queen's units, excluding repeated courses, from the time at which you were admitted part-time on a degree Program;

2. Achieve a minimum Cumulative GPA of 1.90.

OR

1. Complete a minimum of 18.0 Queen's units, excluding repeated courses, from the time at which you were admitted part-time on a degree Program;

2. Achieve a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.90; and

It is my hope that the slower pace of part-time study will provide you with the time needed to carry out your proposed €strategies for success€™ and should enable you to be more successful in your future studies.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances and the difficulty you had transitioning to university. But I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. I encourage you to continue to work with your Counsellor and discuss with her the possibility of registering with QSAS who can support both your health and academics which would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
